STrategic overview

The Brief

Altura is a comprehensive brand strategy and integrated marketing campaign developed for a contemporary ski and outdoor apparel company built around individuality, self-expression, and cultural progression within the outdoor space. The project encompasses the full branding process, including logo design, visual identity system, brand values, and a structured style-guide, alongside the development of a differential multi-channel campaign. Extending beyond identity creation, the work explores how a brand’s strategic positioning can be translated into cohesive summer, experiential, digital, and print applications, demonstrating how Altura could exist as a fully realized and scalable brand ecosystem.

The Challenge

Brand Problem

The primary challenge was to define a distinctive brand position within a saturated outdoor market dominated by performance-driven messaging and conventional alpine aesthetics. The objective was to build a strategy that reframed skiing as a form of personal expression rather than purely technical sport, while ensuring the brand remained credible within the industry. This required establishing a clear brand problem, crafting a compelling strategic narrative, and designing a flexible visual system capable of adapting across campaign touchpoints without losing consistency. Balancing conceptual storytelling with practical marketing functionality was central to the challenge, as the outcome needed to function as both an expressive brand vision and a structured communication framework.

  • Needed to stand out in a saturated outdoor market
  • Reframe skiing as expression, not just performance
  • Build a clear narrative and flexible design system
  • Balance conceptual storytelling with marketing practicality

Strategetic Process

My approach combined brand strategy methodology with visual identity design to create a unified system rooted in narrative thinking. I began by defining Altura’s positioning, audience, and value proposition, using these insights to inform logo development, typographic direction, and the broader design language. From there, I translated the strategy into a campaign structure that connected concept, art direction, and execution across multiple media channels. Emphasis was placed on visual cohesion, hierarchy, and scalability, ensuring each campaign element reinforced the same brand story while functioning independently within its medium. The result is a brand framework that demonstrates not only visual design ability, but also strategic thinking, campaign planning, and the ability to build a brand from foundation to market application.

  • Positioning and audience insights guided design decisions
  • Identity system built from strategic foundations
  • Campaign structured across multiple brand touchpoints
  • Focus on cohesion, hierarchy, and scalability
